WHAT TO CARRY |
The old adage "An
ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is highly relevant when it
comes to riding tandems.
We are self admitted
"gram weenies" when it comes to weight and certainly favor light fast
bicycles. Having said that, there are certain items we ALWAYS carry with
us.
We have been able to
salvage the ride of many tandem and single bike riders over the years since we
usually have enough "stuff" with us to solve most minor mechanical
problems. We carry the following items at all times and view them as a
necessity.
Recommended items to
carry:
3
Inner Tubes
1
Folding Spare Tire
Patch
Kit
Multipurpose
Tool with Chain Breaker & Tire Levers
Connecting
Link for Timing Chain
Connecting
Link for Final Drive Chain (KMC Missing Link or Sachs Power Link)
Spare
Gear Cable
Rubber
Gloves (for
messy chain jobs or injury assist protection)
Tire
Pump (a full
size frame pump - no minis or Co2 cartridges)
FiberFix
Spoke
All items above WILL fit
in the Jandd Mountain Wedge Expandable pack without having the expanding feature
open as pictured here. Expect a packing challenge the first time but it is
rather easy to do if you pack it with the expanding feature open and then zip
it closed as the final step. It certainly saves on having to carry a rack!
